Reds Get Past St. Louis, 7-6
It took 11 innings, but the Cincinnati Reds were able to beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 7-6, at Busch Stadium. Mark Reynolds provided some offensive muscle for Cincinnati. He was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 3. Ivan Naranjo picked up the win in relief for Cincinnati, while Jobannis Henriquez took the loss. The save was credited to Ricardo Aramboles, his 2nd.

Cincinnati used the timely hitting of Corey Patterson to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Reds on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Reynolds told the Cincinnati Daily. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."

The Reds, at 71-50, sit in first place in the NL Central Division.
