Giants Handle Braves, Grab 7-3 Win
|
The San Francisco Giants beat the Atlanta Braves, 7-3. San Francisco pitcher and Greenwood, Indiana, native Paul Maholm led the way. Maholm picked up the win for San Francisco, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 8-10. The Giants, at 53-48, sit in third place in the NL West Division.
The Giants got a lift from designated hitter Nick Wilfong, who in the bottom of the fifth hit a 2-run double. His 15th double of the season put the Giants on top, 3-1.
"You work hard, day in and day out, hoping to give the fans something to cheer about. Today was a good day," Wilfong told the San Francisco Citizen.
