Twins Fall, 9-0, to Mientkiewicz, Tigers
|
Due in large part to catcher Doug Mientkiewicz, the Detroit Tigers sunk the Minnesota Twins, 9-0. Mientkiewicz went 1 for 1 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. The first-place Tigers are now 54-41, the Twins 44-51.
Mientkiewicz put Detroit up, 5-0, when he hit a 3-run home run off Justin Orenduff in the bottom of the third. His 2nd home run of the season helped the Tigers capture the win.
Tigers manager Shane P had nothing but praise for his players after an impressive win, calling the result one of the team's best performances of the season. "Everything just came together on our end," he said. "I didn't need to do too much."
