Cincinnati left fielder Raul Romero pounded Colorado Rockies pitchers at Great American Ball Park, but it was not enough to keep the Reds from falling, 5-3, in Game 1 of the Division Series. Romero went 2-2 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once, though he couldn't keep the Reds from slipping to a 1-0 deficit in the best-of-5 series.

Right Fielder Magglio Ordonez made an impact for Colorado, when he swatted a 2-run home run off Carlos E. Hernandez in the top of the third. For the contest, Ordonez went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Ordonez.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.
