Marlins Move on to Division Series
|
Many baseball pundits expected a close series in the NL Wildcard . It turned out quite a bit different.
The Florida Marlins swept aside the Pittsburgh Pirates to advance to the Division Series, winning the final game by a 6-3 score at Dolphin Stadium.
The series MVP was first baseman Miguel Cabrera, who hit .625 with a .625 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 3 runs.
"We expected this series to go right down to the wire, so to sweep is a bit of a surprise," he said. "But we'll take it."
The Florida Marlins will play against the Cincinnati Reds in the next round. Cincinnati had a bye in the Wildcard . The Division Series schedule will be announced after the Wildcard finishes.
