It was a hard-fought battle for both teams to make it this far. But as the saying goes, "to the victors go the spoils." For the victorious Myrtle Beach Pelicans, that meant the Carolina League Round 1 trophy.

The Pelicans took a 2-1 victory over the Wilmington Blue Rocks at Frawley Stadium, winning their 8th championship after taking the series 4-3.

"We've got grit," said Pelicans reliever Leo Miramontes, who was named MVP of the series. "We know how to win when we have to."

The new titleholders completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the Carolina League South and a 76-64 record.
