Mets Fall, 9-4, to Ruggiano, Marlins
|
Thanks in large part to left fielder Justin Ruggiano, the Florida Marlins beat the New York Mets, 9-4. Ruggiano was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Brandon Matheny earned the win. Todd Redmond, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2003 draft, took the loss for New York. With the win, the Marlins improved to 90-72.
In the top of the second, Ruggiano had a 2-run home run for Florida. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Marlins on top, 2-1.
"I thought we competed really well," said Marlins manager Craig Harris. "I thought the energy was really good."
