Giants Edge Dodgers, 5-4
|
Los Angeles third baseman Brian Barden had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 5-4, to San Francisco at AT & T Park. Barden was 3-3 with 3 singles and a walk. San Francisco pitcher Carlos Bohorquez got the win. He's now 6-2. Joey DeLeon was tagged with the loss. Kyle Waldrop picked up his 23rd save of the season.
Had Eugenio Velez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Velez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Giants.
"Winning never gets dull," said Velez.
At 83-78, the Giants are currently third in the NL West Division.
