Brewers Suffer 6-5 Setback
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates took Milwaukee pitcher Scott Erickson's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Miller Park. The final score had Pittsburgh getting past the Brewers, 6-5. Erickson went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 2. R A Dickey, who is tied for 2nd in the NL in wins with 9, was the winning pitcher. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 10 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Today's win puts Pittsburgh at 34-46, while Milwaukee falls to 41-38.
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic-born Cristian Guzman came through in the clutch. In the top of the seventh, with the bases loaded and the Pirates trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run single to left to put Pittsburgh on top.
