Win Lifts Diamondbacks to 39-35
|
The Arizona Diamondbacks withstood an impressive performance by Baltimore catcher Neil Walker to defeat the Orioles, 6-3, at Chase Field. Walker went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Chris Luttig recorded the save for Arizona, his 18th of the season. Arizona is in second place in the NL West Division with a record of 39-35.
The Orioles had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Diamondbacks going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 27-year old second baseman Bobby Crosby came to the plate. Crosby hit a bases-clearing double on a 0-2 fastball from Baltimore hurler Zach T. Jackson. It was Crosby's 18th double of the year.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Crosby, "one at-bat at a time."
