Padres Handle Mariners, 8-5
|
San Diego first baseman Jason Giambi had 3 ribbies while helping his team defeat the Seattle Mariners, 8-5. Keiya Murakami earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. His record is now 2-0. The Padres now have a mark of 34-40.
Giambi contributed in the bottom of the fourth. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a run-scoring single. It was one at-bat among others that helped San Diego get the win.
"I felt good up there," said Giambi. "I saw the ball well."
