Tigers Victorious at San Francisco, 5-1
|
The Detroit Tigers beat the San Francisco Giants, 5-1. Detroit pitcher and Venezuela, native Oscar Alvarez led the way. Rich Harden recorded the save for Detroit, his 3rd of the season. The Tigers are now 34-39, while the Giants fall to 36-37.
Detroit relied on the bat of Denard Span to get the win. The center fielder produced a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Tigers ahead, 3-1. For the game, Span had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"I felt good. I felt like I was locating the ball well and I was able to keep them off-balance," said Alvarez.
