The Oakland Athletics did just enough to sneak past the Arizona Diamondbacks, 4-3, at Chase Field. Oakland pitcher Brad Halsey, in particular, had a standout performance. Randy Wells, credited with the win in relief, is now 3-6. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 1 innings. Today's win puts Oakland at 38-33, while Arizona falls to 42-30.

The game was at a stalemate until catcher Matt Wieters came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Arizona pitcher Felix Heredia, he hit a first pitch cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Oakland on top, 4-3.

Wieters called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
