White Sox Trounce Guardians, 10-1
|
Chicago got a strong outing from Mike Perkins as the White Sox defeated the Cleveland Guardians, 10-1, at U.S. Cellular Field. The first-place White Sox, at 93-68, lead the AL Central Division by 14 games.
Chicago first baseman David Freese contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a splitter to right-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 123rd hit of the season and put the White Sox ahead, 5-0.
"It was a good team win. Everybody threw something in," Perkins told the Chicago Gazette.
