Desmond 3-for-4 in Giants Win
The San Francisco Giants topped the Oakland Athletics, 9-5, with second baseman Ian Desmond playing a big role. Desmond went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 2 for the Giants in the win. The winning pitcher was Paul Maholm. He's now 6-5. He went 8.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits for the Giants. San Francisco now owns a record of 33-36.

San Francisco grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Desmond hit a 2-run home run off Brad Lincoln. His 2nd home run of the season put the Giants out in front, 2-1.
