Extra-Inning Win by Diamondbacks Over Giants
|
The Arizona Diamondbacks went home winners at SBC Park, thanks in large part to starter Andy Pettitte. Pettitte stifled the San Francisco Giants, enabling Arizona to grab the 5-1 win. Arizona now sits at 35-36, while San Francisco falls to 24-44.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Arturo Abeyta? The 24-year old center fielder Abeyta stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 11th inning to put Arizona up, 2-1. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
Said San Francisco manager Clayton M: "We weren't able to do much."
