Baker Stars in 11-5 Reds Win
|
The Cincinnati Reds downed the Chicago Cubs, 11-5, at Great American Ball Park. The Reds were led by John Baker. Baker was 4-4 with 2 home runs and a double. He scored 3 runs and drove in 6. The first-place Reds have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
Baker contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Cincinnati in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Baker took a fastball from Todd Wellemeyer and stroked the home run to center. His 11th home run of the season allowed the Reds to leap in front, 3-1.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Cincinnati manager Scott Smith.
