Mariners Roll to 8-3 Win Over Rangers
|
Seattle left fielder Seth Smith was instrumental in helping the Mariners triumph, 8-3, over the Texas Rangers. Smith was 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Nate Bump, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 12-13. The first-place Mariners, at 94-66, lead the AL West Division by 6 games.
With Seattle leading 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth, Smith batted against Texas pitcher Casey Fossum. Smith hit a curveball to right-center for a 2-run home run. His 27th home run of the season put the Mariners on top, 6-3.
