Bucs Sweep Phoenix HS Sunday, May 27th , 1917 The Milwaukee HS Bucs ignited a huge celebration as they beat the Phoenix HS Patriots 2-0 to win the World Series. Milwaukee HS won the series 4-0, capturing the title for the 2nd time. "We stepped it up at the right time, and now we're the champs," said Milwaukee HS manager Oscar Cooper. "It's a great feeling." The champs finished the regular season 39-21 and claimed first place in the Conference 2 East Division. In the jubilant clubhouse after the decisive game, series MVP and starting pitcher William Glass said the Bucs have "great fans and they deserve this."
