In what will no doubt go down as a classic Negro Secondary School Baseball Association series for both clubs, the Yonkers HS 89ers prevailed over the Milwaukee HS Bucs in the League Championship Series today.
With the ups and downs of the series thrilling fans on both sides, Yonkers HS won the final game by a score of 6-1 and took the series 4-3.
"In the end, it's our fans who went home happy, but a series like this is good for all fans and for everyone in baseball," said Yonkers HS starting pitcher Albert Evans, who earned series MVP honors.
Evans posted a 1.04 ERA on the series, throwing 26 innings and posting a 2-0 record.
The Yonkers HS 89ers don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Huntington Beach HS Diamondbacks - Memphis HS Danes series.
