Boyd Dominates San Jose College
Tuesday, March 23rd , 1915
Before the game, Clarence Boyd said he liked his chances. His instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing at Rocketmen Field, the Rocketmen pitcher blanked the San Jose College Daredevils 1-0.
"I just had a feeling it was going to be my day," Boyd said in the clubhouse afterward. "My control was awesome. I could throw my slider even when I was behind in the count."
The Columbus College starter held San Jose College scoreless, giving up 4 hits while registering 2 strikeouts and issuing 2 walks.
"We didn't have very many good at-bats," Daredevils manager Gary Hollins said in a postgame interview. "When that happens, you usually lose."
For the season, Boyd has a record of 5 wins and 1 loss in 6 appearances. He has an ERA of 1.59 and has fanned 15 batters in 45.1 innings.
