Johnson Sends Little Rock College Bats to Deep Freeze Sunday, April 15th , 1917 Maurice Johnson led the Brooklyn College T-Bones to a shutout victory, 4-0, over the Little Rock College Padres at Brooklyn College Grounds. "My pitching coach told me before the game just to bear down and focus," Johnson recalled later. "He said no one was going to hit me if I'm throwing a good breaking ball with good location." Johnson yielded 4 hits and had 4 strikeouts and no walks in the standout performance. "I thought he put the ball where he wanted to," Little Rock College manager Walter Bett said.
