5-for-7 Day for Jessup Friday, April 6th , 1917 It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Thomas Jessup. Jessup went on a tear and cracked hit after hit off Chicago College pitchers. When the dust settled on the diamond at Irish Stadium, he had a 5-for-7 line and a day he will long remember. And the Philadelphia College Predators had a win, 13-4, over the Irish. "Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but it won't get me a hit tomorrow," he joked in the postgame interview. Thomas Jessup singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, walked in the 9th, flied out in the 11th, hit an RBI single in the 13th and hit a two-run double in the 13th. Jessup is batting .349 this year with no home runs, 7 RBIs and 9 runs scored. He has 37 hits in 106 at-bats. View Game Log |
