Pilots Prevail, as Division Series Goes to the Wire
Sunday, August 20th , 1916
In a series that had a little bit of everything, the Norfolk Pilots have edged the Albany Alligators.
The two rival clubs went the distance in the tightly-contested Division Series, with a 4-3 win in the clincher being the difference for Norfolk and giving them the ticket to the League Championship Series with a 3-2 series triumph.
"We never stopped believing in ourselves. When push came to shove we were going to get it done," said Otis Bulford, who was named series MVP.
For the series, Bulford hit .750 with a .818 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 3 runs.
The Norfolk Pilots will play against the Allentown Outlaws in the next round. Allentown won their series against the Winameg Oaks 3 games to 0. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes.
