Red-Hot Creech Scorches Lancers Tuesday, June 12th , 1917 Eau Claire shortstop Elmer Creech had a day to remember, 5-for-8 against the Lansing Lancers at Sundevils Field as the Oysters picked up a win, 6-5. "He was patient up there," Eau Claire skipper Forrest Fisher told the press after the game. "I like the way he waited for his pitch and wasn't overly aggressive. Creech has a tendency to chase bad balls sometimes." Elmer Creech hit an RBI single in the 9th, singled in the 11th, grounded out in the 13th, grounded out in the 15th, walked in the 17th, singled in the 20th, flied out in the 22nd, singled in the 24th and hit an RBI single in the 26th.
