Athletics Hart Injured Saturday, May 6th , 1916 The Cleveland Athletics learned that Hugh Hart is likely to be out for 6 weeks after he injured himself running the bases in today's game against the Pittsburgh Oilers. A round of tests by the team doctor revealed the injury to be a torn quad. Upon hearing the diagnosis, the Cleveland manager told the press, "As you all know, we can't control injuries -- they are a part of the game. We just have to do the best we can until Hugh is back in action." This season, Hart has posted a batting average of .283 with 26 hits in 92 at-bats, 1 home run and 17 RBIs. He has also scored 10 runs, walked 8 times and compiled a .340 OBP. |
