Skipper Williams Axed by Philadelphia
Thursday, June 24th , 1915
A "difference of opinion" has cost Walter Williams his job as manager of the Philadelphia Brewers.
Following a postgame meeting with front office officials and ownership, Williams left the ballpark without addressing reporters. It was then revealed by the team's general manager that Williams had been dismissed from the club. Few details are available on the firing at this time.
"Basically, it just came down to a difference of philosophy between Walter and management," general manager Pitsch said.
When reached for comment at his Philadelphia home, Williams refused to comment on the firing other than to say, "We just mutually parted ways. That's it."
The club will begin a search for Williams's successor immediately. Several interviews have already been set up, but team officials declined to say who is on their list of possible replacements.
