In a low-scoring contest between the Providence Angels and the Boston Banshees, 26-year old right-handed pitcher Weldon Vipont proved to be the difference. The Providence right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-2 Angels win. Christop Burnard, credited with the win, is now 4-2. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1 innings. The victory gives the Angels a record of 25-24.

The decisive blow was delivered by Edwin Badcoe in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off fan favorite Merrill Marsham to win the game for Providence. The home crowd went nuts.

"The crowd was boisterous tonight," said Vipont.
