Rifles Use Late Score to Top Whales, 2-1
|
Justin Little pitched a gem to lead Richmond to victory over the Brooklyn Whales, 2-1. In 9 innings, Little surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. The win gives Richmond a season record of 19-10.
Richmond used a timely hit from Dwight Ford to get the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rifles ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"We did just enough to win," Little said.
