The New York Kings defeated the Boston Banshees, 6-5. Doing his part was right fielder Frank Ball, who went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 3 runs. Henry Selvey, the winning pitcher, improved to 4-3. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 7 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 0. The save went to Gus Young, number 3 for him.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the eighth, with the game tied, Robert Thompson was at the plate when New York scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Kings to go in front, 6-5.
"Every time you put a 'W' on the board is always good," said Ball.
Boston now owns a losing streak of 5 games.
