Banshees Slip Past Richmond, 3-2
|
Starting pitcher Pierce Adney gave the Boston Banshees a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Richmond Rifles, 3-2, at The Boston Yards. The victory makes Boston 8-5, as the team seeks a return to the playoffs in 1917.
Guy Slade, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1909 draft, aided the Boston cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the catcher went 1 for 3.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Richmond manager Red "Fox" Williams.
