Angels Defeat Kings, 5-3
|
Kings Ballpark was the site of a competitive game between the New York Kings and Providence Angels.
The Providence Angels picked up a win at Kings Ballpark, taking down the New York Kings, 5-3, in 10 innings. On the mound for Providence was right-hander Reinhold Rogers. He played a central role in the triumph. Audie Darwin snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits over 2 innings. He's now 2-0 on the season.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop John Sankey came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing New York pitcher Joseph Ablewhite, he hit a 1-1 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Providence on top, 4-3.
"Always feels extra good winning this kind of game," said Sankey.
Providence, with the win, is 8-4.
