Richmond Rifles starter Garrett Dixon pitched his team past the Baltimore Clippers, 3-1. Dixon yielded 1 run over 8.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 2-0. Russell Glover collected his 1st save.
The Rifles got a big at-bat from left fielder Mervin Golby. For the game, Golby went 1-4 with a triple. In the top of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Richmond a 1-0 lead.
"What's not to like about a win?" said Golby.
