Brewers Need Extra Innings to Top Clippers, 7-6
Though he had a terrific game, George Hulbert could not prevent his team, the Baltimore Clippers, from absorbing a loss. Philadelphia won the game, 7-6. Hulbert went 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Philadelphia reliever Winfield Clark, who finished 4th in the EL in saves with 10 last year, was credited with the win. His record goes to 2-0. Claude Turner took the loss for Baltimore. Baltimore falls to 2-2.

Philadelphia used the timely hitting of Chris Kaplan to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Brewers on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Kaplan, "but we got it done."
