Mason Handcuffs Doves, Reds Seize 2-0 Advantage in DC
|
The Saint Louis Reds moved to within one game of the Legacy Cup today, downing the visiting Chicago Doves at Reds Ballpark by a score of 2-1. Reds right-hander Charles Mason had a strong outing in which he threw 9.0 innings of 7-hit ball. The win gives the Reds a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 League Cup.
Mason gave Saint Louis a solid start. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 7 hits over 9 innings.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Kevin Jacobson.
The next game is set to be played for Saturday, June 25th , 1904 at World Fair Field in Chicago.
