Richmond Wins at Home to Narrow Series Deficit to 4-3
The Richmond Rifles have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Cleveland Athletics, winning 4-3 at Libby Hill today. Rifles left-hander Garrett Dixon threw 9.0 innings of 7-hit ball. The win cuts the deficit facing the Rifles to 4-3 in the best-of-9 Round 2.

In the bottom of the second, Dixon had one of his most important at-bats: a 2-run single off Charles Stewkley that staked the Rifles to a 2-0 lead.

"There's nothing like the postseason," said Dixon, "to ramp up the pressure."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Libby Hill in Richmond.
