When the stakes were high, Leonard Tansell raised his game to match.

The right-handed Tansell turned in a stellar performance in Game 4 of the Round 2 today, pitching a 9-inning, complete-game shutout to lead the Cleveland Athletics to victory. He allowed 7 hits and struck out 5. The win gave Cleveland a 4-0 lead over the Richmond Rifles in the best-of-9 series.

The Athletics had to work out of trouble in the top of the ninth. The score was 4-2, Cleveland, with one out. Richmond, with a runner on 1st, was mounting a threat. Pierce Leeford dug in at the plate, but on a 1-2 slider, he struck out.

The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, September 6th , 1910 at Libby Hill in Richmond.
