New York Pins 5-1 Loss on Brooklyn

The New York Bakers moved to within one game of the Legacy Cup, downing the visiting Brooklyn Whales at Bakers Field by a score of 5-1. Bakers right-hander Russell Hobley had a strong outing in which he threw 9.0 innings of 8-hit ball. The win gives the Bakers a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 League Cup.
Hobley, who was born in Chino Hills, California, threw 104 pitches over 9 innings, while allowing 1 run.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Marques Williams.
The next game is set to be played for Sunday, August 26th , 1917 at Field of the Whales in Brooklyn.
