The Twin City Empire beat the Detroit Giants, 2-1, at The Peoples Park of Minnesota. Starting pitcher Hillard Wibberley was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. James Harland was credited with the save, his 16th in 23 tries. The 5th-place Giants have lost 5 straight games.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Empire had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when shortstop Dewit Amesbury hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Constant Payne and made the score 2-0, Empire. Amesbury was 1-3 with a walk.

"Every loss stings," said Detroit manager Cecil Hunter. "This one is no exception."
