Empire Down Athletics, 4-1
|
The Twin City Empire converted a terrific effort from starter Gust Bromilow into a win over the Cleveland Athletics at The Peoples Park of Minnesota. The Empire won the game by a final score of 4-1. The winning pitcher was Bromilow, now 9-6. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 4. The save was credited to Elwin Compton, his 9th.
Tied up with the Athletics in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Empire got a boost from center fielder Lee Sellack. With the bases loaded, Sellack saw a 2-2 slider from Leonard Tansell and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Twin City on top, 3-1.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Cleveland manager Clement Dwelly.
The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Twin City.
