Beavers Suffer 4-1 Setback
|
The Cleveland Athletics and Saint Louis Beavers completed their game despite the inclement weather.
Cleveland Athletics starter Charles Stewkley turned in an exceptional performance against the Saint Louis Beavers at Bozeman Municipal Park, resulting in a Cleveland win, 4-1. In 9 innings, Stewkley surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run.
With Cleveland leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Stewkley hit a slider from Cruz Pope for a 2-run triple. It was his 1st triple of the season and put the Athletics ahead, 4-1.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Cleveland manager James Victors.
The 6th-place Athletics have won 4 consecutive games.
