Saint Louis Gets 6-3 Win Against Doves
|
The Saint Louis Beavers spoiled a good performance by Cincinnati left fielder Samuel Foster, bumping off Cincinnati, 6-3, at The Riverlands. Foster was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 times. Cruz Pope got the win, improving to 17-10. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 6 hits and 1 run, while striking out 0 and walking 2. Saint Louis is now 53-31.
Saint Louis right fielder Jesse Brinley contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 78th hit of the season and put the Beavers ahead, 3-1.
In postgame comments to the Saint Louis News, Brinley said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
