Down to Defeat Goes Cleveland, 3-1
|
Pittsburgh starter Ralph Hall kept the Cleveland offense from doing much damage. The left-hander leaned on his fastball in leading the Oilers to a 3-1 win. The win puts the Oilers at 35-50, while the Athletics drop to 44-40.
Making an impact for Pittsburgh was first baseman Carl Mullinger. He drilled a triple off Ocie Stibbs in the top of the fourth. For the game, Mullinger went 1 for 3 with a triple and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs.
Mullinger called the win "a collective effort."
