Cleveland Bats Go Silent in 3-0 Loss
|
At Bozeman Municipal Park, the Cleveland Athletics and Saint Louis Beavers were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Saint Louis Beavers beat the Cleveland Athletics, 3-0, at Bozeman Municipal Park. Starting pitcher Jennings Page was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. In 7.2 innings, Page surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. Irvin Dover sewed up the save, his 5th.
The Beavers got a big at-bat from third baseman Eldon Mitchell. For the game, Mitchell went 2-4 with 2 triples. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the fourth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 10th triple of the season gave Saint Louis a 2-0 lead.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Mitchell. "You've got to get results."
The first-place Beavers have a one-game lead in their division.
