Reds Shimmy Past Beavers, 2-1
|
Elvis Wheeler, who is tied for 3rd in the WL with a 1.93 ERA, imposed his will on the Beavers from the get-go. Relying mainly on his sinker, the left-hander spearheaded the 2-1 Saint Louis triumph. The win makes Saint Louis 29-28.
The decisive blow was delivered by Benedict Swann in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a run-scoring double off fan favorite Irvin Dover to win the game for Saint Louis. The home crowd went nuts.
"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager Solomon Cole.
