Detroit Defeats Chicago, 4-2
|
The Detroit Giants took Chicago pitcher Carlo Stillman's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Powers Field. The final score had Detroit getting past the Packers, 4-2. Stillman went 9 innings and allowed 4 runs, striking out 8. Jimmie Miller earned the save, his 1st, for the Giants. Detroit goes to 22-31, Chicago to 23-30.
Detroit used the timely hitting of John Adair to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Giants on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Adair called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
