Giants Edge Past Athletics, 7-6
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Detroit Giants eventually prevailed.
Cleveland center fielder Quincy Stobert had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 7-6, to Detroit at Bozeman Municipal Park. Stobert was 3-4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 3. The third-place Athletics now sit at 26-23.
Detroit used the timely hitting of George Anderson to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Giants on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Anderson.
