The Saint Louis Reds were defeated, 4-2, by the Pittsburgh Oilers at Reds Ballpark, even though Elvis Wheeler pitched well for Saint Louis. Porter Barnes picked up the win, lifting his record to 4-5 on the season. He struck out 2 and walked 4 in 7.2 innings, while yielding 2 runs. The 4th-place Oilers are 22-23.

Horace Pimlott came through for Pittsburgh when he hit a 2-run single in the top of the seventh. With the bases loaded, he hit a two-strike curveball to center field, staking his team to a 4-2 lead.
