Jenkins Hurls Saint Louis to Shutout Victory
John Jenkins hurled a fine game for the Saint Louis Beavers at The Old Grounds, holding the Detroit Giants to 5 hits in a shutout win.

"When he started out, his command wasn't that good, but he's a tough guy," Saint Louis manager Stanley Gisentaner said. "The more pitches he throws, the better his command is."

The right-hander had no strikeouts and no walks in the 3-0 victory.

"An outstanding job," Detroit manager Cecil Hunter said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game."

This year, Jenkins has compiled a 8-3 mark with a 1.16 ERA.
