Oilers Come Up Short at Chicago, 5-4
|
Fans watched the Chicago Packers and the Pittsburgh Oilers fight to the finish.
The Chicago Packers grabbed a win, 5-4, over the Pittsburgh Oilers at Powers Field. Chicago left fielder Silas Westlock went 2 for 3 with 2 singles. He scored 2 times. Joseph Kinsley, the winner, goes to 4-5. He allowed 4 runs on 13 hits, with no walks and 2 strikeouts over 8 innings.
Dwight Jacks drove in one run for Chicago. The 23-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Porter Barnes. It was his 4th RBI of the season.
Chicago manager Kyle Levin praised his team's "energy."
