Doves Drop Reds, 2-1
|
Cincinnati used a superb performance from starting pitcher Bonnie Kaye to down the Saint Louis Reds, 2-1. Kaye yielded 1 run over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1. His record improves to 1-0. Saint Louis drops to 2-1.
Walter Dingwall, who led the EL in batting average with .368 in 1911, had a direct impact on the outcome. Dingwall contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Cincinnati up, 2-1.
"We did just enough to win," Dingwall said.
